Isn’t it funny?
Not the number of unemployed people—rather the fact that politicians have to wait for the official numbers to come out to know how bad things are. If the unemployment rate is 8.3% or 23 million people, I would suggest that there are probably that many people, if not a few hundred thousand more, who ALREADY KNOW how bad things are!
The next president is probably the one who (1) can indicate that he is in touch enough with America to know that it’s bad, and (2) can convince Americans that he has a workable plan to turn things around.
It’s not enough to say “we need more time” and it’s not enough to point to business savy to improve the economy. In truth, the President can do little to turn the economy one way or the other. If he could, then a smart Obama would have put such a plan into motion in February 2012 and would be able to boast improvement right up through the election.
Maybe he’s not that smart!
