I generally stay away from talking about Islam. While I consider myself well grounded in my Christian beliefs, I also don’t need any fatwahs issues on me or my family. Keep that in mind as I continue.
This posting is more about the stupidity of Americans than the radicalization of Islam. Ever since 9/11, it seems Americans are all too eager to open hearts, minds, and doors to a religion that has spawned several radical groups and produced deadly attacks (in the name of the religion) around the globe. Whether South Asia, Europe, Russia, the Middle East, North Africa, or Southwest Asia, one cannot escape the fear, oppression, and bloodshed carried out against other Moslems and non-Moslems in the name of Islam. No-one is safe.
Here’s a list I gleaned from Wikipedia. While I don’t hold Wikipedia in the highest regard for accuracy, many of these I have heard of from other sources. Consider for yourself:
Lashkar-e-Toiba (Pakistan): Cites India and Israel as enemies
Jaish-e-Mohammed (Pakistan): Cites India as an enemy
Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (Bangladesh): Operates against the Bangladesh establishment
Taliban (Afghanistan): General opposition to the West and its influence
Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin (Afghanistan): General opposition to the West and its influence
Al-Qaeda: Enemy of Zionism (Israel), Christianity, Hinduism, Western influence, and less-Islamic governments
Hezbollah (Turkey and Lebanon): Enemy of Israel and its supporters
Fatah al-Islam (Lebanon): Enemy of Israel and its supporters
Hamas (Palestinian Territory): Enemy of Israel and its supporters
Islamic Jihad (Palestinian Territory): Enemy of Israel and its supporters
Abu Sayyaf (Philippines): Has the goal of establishing an Islamic-ruled region in the Philippines
One needs a scorecard and a map to keep up with the list!
Clearly not all of these organizations operate in or against the United States, but then those that have done so scored some major points against us.
Again relying on Wikipedia, it’s interesting to see what is listed as terrorism. I looked at an article on terrorism here in the US. The listings of acts by type and or group is pretty impressive. By far, the longest list is the one for radical Islam:
1977 Hanafi Siege
1989 firebombing of the Riverdale Press

The list does not include all of the attacks that Washington claims it thwarted over the years. AND the next longest list had 12 acts of terrorism—and had to stretch back to 1865 to get that much!
Who is the Number 1 enemy of the United States?
OK, besides President Obama!
So when NY Representative Peter King says we need to take notice of how these organizations are recruiting within our own borders, we should take notice. Not take notice of some issue with political correctness—and not take notice of the “good” Moslems who live here peacefully and would do no harm—but to the fact that we are and have been under attack since long before 9/11 and to the fact that radical Islam wants to destroy Israel and its supporters.
What do radical Islamists want to do? Fly planes into buildings. Blow up buildings. Kidnap and behead innocent people.
Listen up! Here is one of our own saying we have an issue in our backyard. You don’t bring a mountain lion into your kitchen and offer it a saucer of milk no matter how cute you think it is. And you don’t go “nice kitty, kitty” to a wild skunk!
Take into account that Representative Peter King is a Democrat and it seems amazing since we typically think of Dems as liberal pacifists. He isn’t warning us against Islam—he’s warning us against elements in radical Islam recruiting from within the Islamic community here in the US. If you cannot get into the country on your own, it’s best to recruit someone who knows the language, culture, and lay of the land and who can move around freely. Think about it—the CIA has recruited foreign operatives this way for decades. Do you really believe others don’t recruit Americans?
You know, when one of these Washington doves speaks up in defense of this nation, people should really sit up and take notice. The hearings continue and maybe we’ll learn enough to stay alive a few more years.
