Once again, Toyota is in the news and this time, it’s the rollover risk in its Lexus GX 460 SUV. This was in the back of my mind as I perused news stories during lunch. On a BBC site, there at the top of the page for a news article I had stopped to read—was a banner ad for another Toyota SUV. This one though is the Highlander which incidentally looks an awful lot like its Lexus cousin. Anyway, in an attempt to get page visitors to look into the vehicle, it offers an oddly Freudian invitation. See it below for yourself.

Someone wasn’t thinking clearly over in Marketing!
The Highlander IS NOT implicated in this issue but the use of the wording in the ad seems inappropriate for a brand trying to manage its image.
As for the tag line “Moving Forward”, isn’t that part of the other problem Toyota was having?
