Forget Conner Prairie!
Forget all the things we think matter for a moment, whether it’s abortion, politics, religion, evolution—you name it! Enter the sad, sad world of reality in which we live.
I have mentioned before how I scan the news for stories and this one caught my attention.
I am upset!
I am disgusted!
I am heartbroken!
I am sickened!
So why would I share this story with you? Because I believe most people who read this blog are caring people. I believe you have a heart and are compassionate. While we do not always agree on our points of view, I think we will all agree that our hearts should go out to Angelo Mendoza, a boy who was savagely attacked by someone who should have been loving and caring provider—a teacher—a role model. This boy’s life is forever changed and I cannot fathom the sickness that would drive a father to do such a thing.
I am reminded of my brother who has similarly betrayed the trust that should be between a father and child. But those are scars that can heal.
If you do not believe you can handle this story, do not read it. It is a heartbreaker for even the toughest.
Get a tissue, read, cry, say a prayer—whatever you can and need to do.
(Stop if you are squeamish!)
