Around the globe, glaciers are melting at a tremendous rate as atmospheric temperatures rise universally. Subsequently, water levels—both terranean and subterranean—are rising. At the current rate of melt off, it is likely that coastal areas will be hit with periodic and tidal flooding if not completely inundated. What’s causing the temperatures to rise? No-one seems to know for sure but the term “global warming” seems appropriate.
If it were possible to look back 10,000+years (assuming science is correct), the leading story around the world might look like the account recorded above. It would have been about global warming—not Obama or swine flu. And there would have probably been great excitement over the news, not fear and dread.
The biggest problem about global warming (assuming science is correct) is that man has foolishly built in areas that would be prone to flooding. The thought reminds me of the following passage:
Matthew 7:24-29 (New International Version)
The Wise and Foolish Builders
24“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” 28When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.
