For many years, I’ve taken aim at California for being one of the most heavily and ridiculously regulated states in the country. It’s a wonder that anyone who lives there can do anything for fear of being arrested! Most recently, NPR reported on the story about noise and electric cars. It seems the State of California is concerned that vision impaired pedestrians may not hear one of these cars and unwittingly step out in front of one with injurious results. Well, what these do-gooders have proposed is ridiculous!!! How much noise? What should be used to make the noise? What type of noise? Should it be electronically simulated exhaust noise? Should it be 10 dB or 100 dB? Maybe an MP3 of The Beatles “Drive My Car”???
Imagine a state that actually wants automakers to contribute to its noise pollution!!!
Only in California!!!
