Author’s Note: This was my first foray into the world of political blogging and in looking back at it this evening (20090503), I realized it had been read only once since its writing. It was probably my wife who read it. So I thought I would rename it and see if it got more attention. For those who liked Bill Clinton and his time in office, you may want to take note. During Barack Obama’s presidency, I wonder how much more the world may like us. The post was formerly titled “1993 Revisited”.
OK, so I said I would stay away from politics but driving home today, I heard something that challenged my resolve and… I had to concede defeat. Listening to National Public Radio (NPR to the initiated), I heard a gentleman in Wisconsin claim that Bill Clinton was a good President and that he did good things. When the correspondent asked him to explain his point about Bill Clinton’s Presidency, the person went on to say that under Clinton’s Administration, things were at peace. The world liked us and looked up to us.
My response here is only to point out the short-sightedness of this man’s memory. I don’t care to discuss or debate Bill’s budget surplus, military draw-downs that left our forces depleted by 2001, or his dalliances with interns in the well-respected Oval Office.
But, I would be remiss if I did not remind you that the FIRST attack on the World Trade Center did not occur on September 11, 2001, but rather February 26, 1993.
Bill Clinton was President–not George Bush!
